7th August 2019
This was the first of what will be hopefully a regular outing from our Guildford Paddle Base. The launch site this time was the Lay-by by Shalford road bridge. Near the Parrot Inn. There is plenty of parking and a grass area to pump up on.

Once we were ready, Lisa’s Daughter, Lily launched her brand new board into The Wey. Then we were off upstream. we met another couple on boards heading the other way and wished them a good evening.

After exploring the stub of the Wey Arun Navigation, which ends in a bricked up bridge, with a Private sign over the much reduce gap through to the remains of the Canal 🙁

Back on The Wey, we headed up passed Unstead Lock and on to the Beefeater just North of Godalming. Here we turned and rode the current back to Shalford.

It was a calm evening to be on the water, with lots of wildlife to see, including some Roe Deer.
