We were set up on 7th April 2017 on Ditton Beach, Thames Ditton, Surrey, by a bunch of adventure seeking newbies to paddle boarding, with a couple of secondhand boards. They were very unstable and bendy.
We are now a fully formed affiliated club under British Canoeing. We have four Paddle Bases locally and groups going out weekly exploring the waterways locally. In the summer months, we go on Safari. Finding new bits of water we haven’t explored before.
If you want to take the plunge (hopefully not literally) and join the club, you will have to own your own board and a British Canoeing Membership or equivalent EA boat license (we need to pay for and protect our playground). If you have, just fill in the questionnaire and pay the small membership fee
Finally, if you would like to support our club, but not become a member, a donation to help our activities grow the sport and keep the costs down for users is always welcome. Please use the link below.
Sally joined DPB on 28 June 2017. She was a newbie having had a couple of sessions at another club, but was looking for a friendly home with like-minded fun seeking paddlers.
After coming along for a couple of taster session, saved enough money for her own lovely Jobe board and has not looked back. Sally has taken over day to day running of the Thames Ditton Base from Brett Scillitoe. She is ably helped by Sam Colyer and her husband Martin.
