About

Join us on Saturday October 11th for a SUP Safari on a beautifully rural stretch of the River Thames, from Boulters Lock.

We’ll paddle upstream towards Marlow, past the stunning Cliveden House and over Cookham Lock. Paddling socially as a group, the trip distance will be determined by the speed and stamina of the group on the day. We may stop at The Bounty for refreshments and explore some of the backwaters along the way.

  • For competent paddlers who are able to self rescue and fit to paddle 10-20KM with 1 or 2 lock portages.
  • A relaxed and sociable SUP Safari. Planned, risk assessed and led by Paddle UK qualified Paddle Sport Leaders.
  • Participants must be 12 years old or above.
  • Under 18’s years must be accompanied by a participating legal parent/guardian.
  • Be able to swim 25 meters in your buoyancy aid and clothing you’re wearing paddling.
  • You’ll need your own paddle board, paddle, pump, QR waist leash and buoyancy aid.
  • Please wear quick drying clothing and bring a change of clothes and a towel.
  • A dry bag with shoulder straps would also be a good idea and footwear for the lock portages.
  • Water and snacks – we plan to stop at The Bounty or maybe get a meal in another pub after our paddle but this will be decided by the group on the day so please eat breakfast and bring snacks and fluids to ensure you have the energy to paddle and portage!
  • No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt), with old trainers or water shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
  • In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory. Water/windproof layers and a hat and gloves are always a good idea too.
