Our weekly Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon SUP Social paddles from The Albany Pub, Thames Ditton.
Led by a Paddle UK qualified Sup Instructor or Paddlesport Leader.
You will need your own board, paddle, leash (preferably a quick release waist leash) and a buoyancy aid/pfd.
Route, distance and speed will be determined depending on the make up of the group – we never leave anyone behind!
Equipment is available to hire – please call/message 07547 917643 to arrange before booking on to the social.
- Ability to comfortably paddle either standing or kneeling for 1.5 – 2 hours.
- Be water confident & able to swim 25 meters.
- Competent at self rescue (getting back onto your board from deep water).
- Age 12+ under 18’s must be accompanied on the water by a legal parent/guardian.
- Please wear quick-drying clothing and bring a change of clothes and a towel just in case you go in during the paddle boarding session.
- A dry bag and waterproof footwear would also be a good idea.
- No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt), with old sandals or trainers you don’t mind getting wet. Or you can get cheap neoprene wet shoes from most large supermarkets.
- In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory.
- Water and a snack.
Parking:
Please park responsibly in the local area. There is free parking available at The Albany pub – you’ll need to enter your vehicle registration number at the bar. They would welcome you in afterwards for a post paddle recovery drink – we have a table booked.
Toilets and Changing:
The Albany’s toilets are accessible during their opening hours. It would make them happy if you bought a beverage, buy way of a thank you!
Please Note:
You are responsible for your own safety on all club social paddles and must self assess if you are competent to take part, including the ability to Self Rescue. Dittons Paddle Boarding only set the meeting time and place.
