SUP Experience from The Albany, Thames Ditton, Surrey – 35 Minutes from Waterloo Station.
This is a 2 hour paddle board experience for a small group of 6 people suitable for individuals, groups or families. Perfect for beginners through to experienced paddlers looking to improve their skill set. Everyone will come away with new skills. Our experienced coaches will guide you on Stand-up Paddle boards past Henry VIII amazing Hampton Court Palace where you can get a unique view from the water and how Henry and Elizabeth I would have arrived.
Our coaches will show you how to mount and dismount your board from various locations on the Thames, navigate a lock so we can then rejoin the river and paddle on to the Islands of Hampton and the luxury floating homes. Then if time allows, on to see Astoria where Pink Floyd crafted a number of their albums. All the while, seeing the wonderful wildlife the area has to offer. Finally back to the traditional English riverside pub for refreshments or a meal.
- Participants must be 14 years old or above
- Under 18 years must be accompanied by a participating adult
- Be able to swim 30 meters
- No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt/sweatshirt), with old sandals or trainers you don’t mind getting wet. Or you can get cheap neoprene wet shoes from most large supermarkets.
- In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory.
- Always bring a towel and a change of clothes just in case you go in during the paddle boarding session.
- A dry bag and phone case is a good idea.
- Water, snack, hat and sunscreen if hot.
- You can use your own board or one will be provided.
The group will start at the base and under the instruction of the coach will be taught about the equipment and fitted with buoyancy aids. The session will cover water safety and river etiquette. The coach will teach the group how to paddle, turn, stop and stand up on the board. All of this will then be put into practice on the River Thames before we start our tour.
