About:
Wear something pink and join our 4th annual FREE Pink Paddle for Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Saturday 25th October 2025. We’ll meet at the Basingstoke Canal Centre, Mytchett at 11:30am to pump up our boards and get on the water around 12 noon.
We’ll have cupcakes for sale after the paddle – all donations to Cancer Research UK – either by cash on the day or via our JustGiving page here.
- For competent paddlers who are able to self rescue and fit to paddle 5 – 8KM either standing or kneeling.
- A relaxed and sociable SUP Social. Planned, risk assessed and led by Paddle UK qualified Paddle Sport Leaders.
- Participants must be 12 years old or above.
- Under 18’s years must be accompanied by a participating legal parent/guardian.
- Be able to swim 25 meters in your buoyancy aid and clothing you’re wearing paddling.
- You’ll need your own paddle board, paddle, pump, QR waist leash and buoyancy aid.
- Please wear quick drying clothing and bring a change of clothes and a towel.
- A dry bag with shoulder straps would also be a good idea and footwear for the launch.
- Water and snacks.
- No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt), with old trainers or water shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
- In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory. Water/windproof layers and a hat and gloves are always a good idea too.
- Pink Fancy Dress is optional but fun!
- Cash for cupcakes – all donations to Cancer Research UK.
