About
Join us for an 8.5KM round trip SUP Safari through the beautiful Dorney Wetlands to Slough Weir along the Jubilee River.
We’ll stop for a relaxing pic-nic halfway, before heading back to the start point.
Led by a Paddle UK qualified Paddlesport Leader, with tips and informal coaching included.
You will need your own board, paddle, leash (preferably quick release waist leash) and a buoyancy aid/pfd.
Route, distance and speed will be determined depending on the make up of the group – we never leave anyone behind!
Equipment is available to hire – please email paddle@dpbclub.co to arrange before booking onto the safari.
- Ability to comfortably paddle either standing or kneeling for 3.5+ hours.
- For competent paddlers who are able to self rescue.
- A relaxed and sociable 8.5KM SUP Safari and pic-nic. Planned, risk assessed and led by Paddle UK qualified Paddle Sport Leaders.
- Age 12+ under 18’s must be accompanied on the water by a legal parent/guardian.
- You’ll need your own paddle board, paddle, pump, QR waist leash and buoyancy aid.
- Please wear quick drying clothing and bring a change of clothes and a towel.
- A dry bag with shoulder straps would also be a good idea and footwear for the launch and weir portage.
- Water and snacks – we’ll stop for a riverside pic-nic halfway.
- No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt), with old trainers or water shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
- In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory. Water/windproof layers and a hat and gloves are always a good idea too.
Parking:
Free parking at Dorney Wetlands car park – spaces limited, please car share where possible!
Toilets & Changing:
No toilets or changing facilities at the launch site.
