About

On Saturday January 17th, we’re off to explore the River Brent & Grand Union canal.  Join us for this 7KM round trip SUP Safari from Brentford Basin to Hanwell and back.  Two locks each way and a well-earned halfway break at The Fox.  If conditions allow. we’ll detour into the Brentford Project on return.

Requirements

  • For competent paddlers who are able to self rescue and fit to paddle 7KM with 4 lock portages.
  • A relaxed and sociable SUP Safari. Planned, risk assessed and led by Paddle UK qualified Paddle Sport Leaders.

What to Bring

  • You’ll need your own paddle board, paddle, pump, QR waist leash and buoyancy aid.
  • Please wear quick drying clothing and bring a change of clothes and a towel.
  • A dry bag with shoulder straps would also be a good idea and footwear for the lock portages.
  • Water and snacks – we plan to stop halfway at The Fox but in case we don’t make it that far, please eat breakfast and bring snacks to ensure you have the energy to paddle and portage!
  • No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt), with old trainers or water shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
  • In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory. Water/windproof layers and a hat and gloves are always a good idea too.
