This is a 90 minute Public Group Improver Paddle Boarding Lesson for people who have paddled before and want to practice and develop their paddling skills and knowledge. Our Paddle UK qualified & insured instructors will assess your skills and tailor the lesson to improve your technique. Maybe you want to get better at paddling in a straight line, learn about different turning strokes, footwork or rescue techniques? Perhaps you have bought your own board and want tips on setting it up and getting the most out of it. This session would be ideal for you. The lesson takes part on a beautiful stretch of the non-tidal River Thames. All equipment is provided or you can use your own if you have it.

£55 per person.

A minimum of 2 people is required for these lessons to run. If minimum numbers are not reached we will reschedule you onto an acceptable alternative date/time – if you have a friend who can book with you, your chosen session will be guaranteed to run (safe river condition dependent). Other dates/times are available – please email paddle@dpbclub.co or call/message 07547917643 if a suitable slot is not listed and we’ll try our best to accommodate you!

  • Participants must be 12 years old or above.
  • Under 18’s must be accompanied by a participating adult parent/guardian on the water.
  • No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt/sweatshirt), with old sandals or trainers you don’t mind getting wet. Or you can get cheap neoprene wet shoes from most large supermarkets.
  • In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory.
  • Always bring a towel and a change of clothes just in case you go in during the paddle boarding session.
  • A dry bag is a good idea, or you can put small items in the instructor’s dry bag.
  • Water, snack, hat and sunscreen if hot.
  • All equipment is provided or you can use your own board if you have one.

The group will start at the paddle base and go through land based skills. The group will get on the water and go for a paddle on a beautiful stretch of the non-tidal River Thames near to Hampton Court Palace with formal individualised coaching along the way. The lesson will be based on the participants skills, abilities and desired outcomes – maybe you want to get better at paddling in a straight line or faster and more efficiently? You might want to learn about different turning techniques, footwork or rescue skills. The aim is to relax, have fun, learn and explore safely whilst meeting new people.

All equipment is provided or you can use your own if you have it. Led by Paddle UK qualified & insured instructors.
