About
Start the New Year off right. Join us to work off some of the excess Christmas calories with a paddle on The Basingstoke Canal from Addlestone.
We’ll meet at 10am to pump up and be on the water at around 10:30. Paddling for 90 minutes towards Woking, then back to deflate about 13:30 will give us time to head over to The Harvester for a well deserved lunch at 14:15/30.
- For competent paddlers who are able to self rescue and fit to paddle for 1.5HRS at a relaxed, sociable pace with 1 or maybe 2 lock portages.
- A relaxed and sociable SUP Safari. Planned, risk assessed and led by Paddle UK qualified Paddle Sport Leaders.
- Distance, speed & duration will be determined by the group and the weather!
- You’ll need your own paddle board, paddle, pump, QR waist leash and buoyancy aid.
- Please wear quick drying clothing and bring a change of clothes and a towel.
- A dry bag with shoulder straps would also be a good idea and footwear for the lock portage(s).
- Water and snacks – we have a table booked at The Harvester but please eat breakfast and bring snacks to ensure you have the energy to paddle and portage!
- No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt), with old trainers or water shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
- In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory. Water/windproof layers and a hat and gloves are always a good idea too.
Parking
Free parking at launch site & pub (you’ll need to register your car at the pub!)
