About

Join us to paddle a classic London SUP route.  We’ll launch from Hackney Wick and paddle 10KM through 5 waterways – Lee Navigation, Bow Back Rivers, Limehouse Cut, Regent’s Canal and Hertford Union Canal.

8 lock portages along the way, with a coffee break at e5 Poplar Bakehouse, overlooking Canary Wharf.

This year’s Limehouse Loop Safari will be paddled the opposite direction to last year’s and take in the extra part to include the Olympic Park.

  • For competent paddlers who are able to self rescue and fit to paddle 10KM with 8 lock portages.
  • A relaxed and sociable SUP Safari. Planned, risk assessed and led by Paddle UK qualified Paddle Sport Leaders.
  • You’ll need your own paddle board, paddle, pump, QR waist leash and buoyancy aid.
  • Please wear quick drying clothing and bring a change of clothes and a towel.
  • A dry bag with shoulder straps would also be a good idea and footwear for the lock portages.
  • Water and snacks – we plan to stop for coffee/cake at e5 Poplar Bakehouse but in case we don’t make it that far, please eat breakfast and bring snacks to ensure you have the energy to paddle and portage!
  • No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt), with old trainers or water shoes that you don’t mind getting wet.
  • In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory. Water/windproof layers and a hat and gloves are always a good idea too.
